Eltham
farmers’ market is six years old! To
mark this anniversary, the next market on
Sunday 20th October will
feature some new stalls and special promotions.
The Royal Borough will have a presence with the Greener Greenwich stand
to provide information on current initiatives such as the Big London Energy
Switch, a scheme to help Londoners save money on their energy bills. There will also be a Dr Bike stand where you can bring your bike along for a free MOT bike
assessment and minor repairs on the spot.
The
market operates between 10am to 2pm on the third Sunday of every month at Passey
Place, where it adjoins the busy High Street.
The market sells a range of fresh local produce including fruit and veg, jams, honey and chutneys, chilli sauces, bread and cakes, organic
meat, game and traditionally made sausages.
The
market organisers, City and Country Farmers’ Markets, would like to grow and
diversify the market to provide a more varied offer. This might include locally produced arts
& crafts, hand-made fashion/clothing items, ‘green’ products or advice
services (e.g. growing/planting schemes) and community stalls. There are also opportunities for local
businesses with a suitable offer to get involved (e.g. organic, ‘green’ or
locally produced/made goods).
Having
already proved successful at some of their other markets, the organisers are
also keen to expand the offering here to cater for the current trend for vintage
clothes & homewares and ‘up-cycled’ goods.
If
you would like to get involved or have an idea you would like to discuss, please contact Chris or Sophie Elder of City
and Country Farmers’ markets at 020 8302 9010 or email: info@weareccfm.com.
