VE Celebration on the Progress Estate

The Progress Estate has a unique connection to the war effort, having provided accommodation to munitions workers in the nearby Woolwich Arsenal.

Let's celebrate together (but separately - maintaining social distancing rules) for a "stay at home" street party on Friday 8th May.

The windows on the Estate are already decorated with rainbows, perhaps residents can also decorate using red, white and blue.  If you have any 1940's style outfits - you may want to also dress up!

A suggested schedule of the events is as follows:

11am - 2 minutes' silence on your doorstep
3pm - Churchill speech on the BBC, then grab your picnic blanket or garden table and head into your front garden for...
4pm - Tea & scones (or coffee & cake)
6pm - Dinner and raise a glass to your neighbours
9pm - Nationwide singalong to Dame Vera Lynn's "We'll meet again" with the British Legion after the Queen's address on the BBC
