September 2015 Newsletter

Dear All,
Our Centenary Year has seen capacity turn outs for BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions? at Gordon Primary School, a lovely May evening with John Sandon, our Patron, showing how knowledgeable and entertaining he is about antique ceramics, a quiz and supper night at The White Hart on Eltham Hill and the Priory Player’s wonderful Old Time Music Hall in the Progress Hall. Our summer fete on Lovelace Green was opened by John Sandon and attended by the Mayor of Royal Borough of Greenwich, Cllr. Norman Adams and the Mayoress Serena Lovelace.  Prizes for the year’s raffles, which have significantly contributed to the costs of these events, have been generously donated by residents and locals. It was lovely to see so many of you.
Many of you have been kind enough to complete our Community questionnaire sent out with the last newsletter.   If anyone would like to fill one out but has misplaced it please contact me for another or do so by clicking on this link

Relationships in Garden Suburbs

We are very pleased to announce that Katia Clarke, a 3rd year geography student at Loughborough University, has selected our Estate as one of three she is studying for her dissertation.   Her subject is how people develop relationships in Garden Suburbs. Her findings will be based on the short questionnaire which can be accessed on this link

Everyone who completes the paper or on-line questionnaire will significantly help Katia to complete her dissertation.   By way of thanks, they will be entered into a prize draw.  Her findings will be shared with all participants after the study.   They could be of considerable benefit to our community as a whole, by providing us with a better understanding of the nature of peoples’ relationships here and in other Garden Suburbs in London.

Do you know a Good Neighbour?

We are seeking nominations for our Nominate a Good Neighbour scheme.  Its purpose is to thank those people who spend time helping others.   In recognition of their devotion, Jim Buttress will present them with a token of our appreciation during the AGM and Christmas Social on Saturday, 12th December.

You may nominate someone by providing Rita Billinghurst with their details (email and telephone number above).   We will obtain their approval before announcing their names.
