PRESS RELEASE Progress Residents Association Annual General Meeting and Christmas Social

We are pleased to announce that our 2013 AGM and Christmas Social is to be held in the

Progress Hall, Admiral Seymour Road SE9 1SL on Saturday 7th December.   The formal business will commence at 1:00 p.m. and be followed (as soon as possible) by our Christmas Social.

Seasonal Fayre, including mince pies, mulled wine and spiced apple juice will be on offer and free of charge for people living on the Estate.

Tickets for the Raffle will be on sale at the door.

Rita Bygrave, Chair, said “Holding this event on a Saturday, and at 1:00 p.m., is something of an experiment for us.   We hope a daytime meeting, finishing at 3:00 p.m., will be more convenient for our regular attendees as well as those with young families”.

Originally named the Well Hall Estate, The Progress Estate was built in 1915 to provide housing for the many additional workers the Woolwich Arsenal needed to manufacture the armaments required by the services during the First World War.   Conservation Area status was granted in 1975, in recognition of its unique architectural character.
